Located in Moorpark’s The Alley marketplace, this casual, family-friendly spot owned by former sports anchor Nick Simpson dishes out wood-fired pizza, Santa Maria–style tri tip, burgers and other sandwiches, salads, and German specialties, like schnitzel and gourmet bratwurst from Camarillo sausage maker Youbite. Meatball sandwiches come on wood-fired baguettes, corned beef sliders on soft Hawaiian rolls, and The Wyatt Earp Nashville-style chicken sandwich on a brioche bun. Most menu items are accompanied with a side of fries, macaroni and cheese, or baked beans. One of several pizza creations, The Hitching Post is hand-tossed, wood-fired, and topped with homemade pesto, mozzarella, cowboy bacon, Parmesan, and pickled onions.
