Named for the hazelnut, this restaurant operated by husband-and-wife team Pietro Biondi and Julie Hara brings Northern and Southern Italian seasonal fare to a 1910-era house that for 25 years was home to the French restaurant L’Auberge. For lunch and dinner, served on Tuesdays through Saturdays, executive chef Biondi focuses on dishes from his native Italy, made with ingredients from local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen. Soups of the day and house-made pasta preparations are often served on bowls and plates produced by Ojai potters. The wine list features selections from Italy and local producers; craft beers and cocktails are also available. The dining room is outfitted with a fireplace, a white banquette, reclaimed oak tables, upholstered chairs, and vintage silver trays hanging from deep-blue walls. At dinner, tables on the veranda offer views of Ojai’s famous Pink Moment sunset as it plays across the Topa Topa Mountains in the distance.
