Built in 1942, the café’s entryway is beautiful with its honeycomb tile floor and marble-and-wood bar. A wraparound patio has been added to the building, which is set in the embankment above the Embarcadero resulting in wonderful views. There are top-notch breakfasts of seafood omelets, buttermilk pancakes (to which bacon crumbles can be added), and sourdough French toast. On the weekends additional brunch dishes are served, like huevos rancheros and eggs Sardou with artichokes and Mornay sauce. At night Dorn’s is a steak house serving filet mignon, lobster tail, and chicken Marsala.
