An expense-account vibe permeates this posh steak house and bar that also is known for its seafood. With quiet finesse, jacketed servers whisk sizzling plates out of the kitchen and onto white tablecloths. Steaks and chops are huge and tender; rich side dishes are served family-style. Salads are big enough for two as are desserts, which come with giant bowls of whipped cream. Seafood towers make impressive table decorations for those who want to indulge in oysters, crab claws, shrimp, or caviar. Selections from the sushi menu created for Mastro’s by chef Angel Carbajal include maguro lime rolls with chili tempura, and seared albacore topped with black truffle shavings. Orders of four or more sushi items are served on tiered pyramids that highlight each morsel. The Malibu Ocean Club location offers a spectacular ocean view and a weekend brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
